Many people think homeschoolers are nerdy, sheltered, and socially awkward. This is true is some cases, but most of the people I know who have the privilege - yes, it's a privilege - of being educated at home are not like this. As with anyone, there are shy homeschoolers and out-going ones. That has more to do with personality than form of education, though.
Most homeschoolers are "socialized". Yes... "socialized"... Every homeschooler soon gets used to getting asked questions like "Do you have any friends?" "How do you find friends?" and "Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?" the ultimate question of socialization. Just because we learn at home, does not mean that our parents never let us out of the house!
The homeschooler stereotype includes: camo, white sneakers, jean skirts and jumpers, plaid, Little House on the Prairie dresses, and duct tape. However, not all
homeschoolers are like this. In fact, being homeschooled gives us more freedom with our clothes, meaning that we don't have as much pressure from peers to dress "fashionably." Instead, we are able to explore our own style (within reason and modesty, of course).
There are many other reasons that homeschooling and homeschoolers are great, but I wouldn't want to make you non-homeschoolers jealous. :)
